Grammy-nominated K-pop group BTS have officially confirmed they will be appearing in the live concert BTS permission to dance on stage on October 24, 2021. The announcement follows a last-minute announcement that their SOUL Map The world stadium tour has been officially canceled. (More details on the live-streamed concert to come.)
This will be the group’s first concert in a year, with their most recent – “BTS MAP OF THE SOUL ON: E†– which took place in October 2020. This concert was viewed in 191 countries / regions for a total of of 993,000 viewers.
Global superstars have a busy schedule. The septet is currently in New York where they delivered the “Thoughts and Stories of Youth†via a keynote address as well as a special performance of “Permission to Dance†at the 76th United Nations General Assembly. BTS was appointed the President’s Special Envoy for Future Generations and Culture and after being introduced by the President of the Republic of Korea Moon Jae-in, they shared their remarks during the Sustainable Development Goals program as representatives of today’s youth.
Their appearance on September 20, 2021 marked the third time the group has given a speech at the United Nations. They have already appeared before the UN in 2018 and 2020.
While preparing for their speech, BTS took to social media to ask young people around the world key questions: “What were the past two years like for you, and what is your world like today? They have received countless stories from all over the world and presented some of them today to ensure that the voice of the next generation is heard.
“We believe that instead of the ‘lost generation’ a more appropriate name would be the ‘welcome generation’. Because instead of fearing change, this generation is saying, “Welcome! and keep moving forward. They also mentioned the importance of getting the vaccine, sharing that everyone in the group received the vaccine. The group closed the speech on a note of hope: “We believe that the day when we can meet again face to face is not far away. We believe that every choice we make is the start of change. We hope that in this emerging new world, we can all say, “Welcome! “
The speech was followed by a special music video for their hit “Permission to Dance,” which BTS opened by singing in the General Assembly Hall. The epic performance was topped off by the group doing International Sign gestures for “Joy”, “Dance” and “Peace” alongside dancers on the North Lawn.
BTS has no plans to slow down and recently teamed up with another famous band, Coldplay. The seven members of the popular K-pop group are featured on Coldplay’s song “My Universe”.
To support the collaboration, Coldplay released a TikTok video of singer Chris Martin in the studio with BTS while the song was being created. The video has already garnered more than 14 million views. The single is released this Friday, September 24 and is available for pre-order now.
You can see both groups on Saturday, September 25 on Global Citizen Live, a 24-hour event spanning seven continents. It has been announced that Coldplay will perform from Central Park in New York and BTS will perform in Seoul, South Korea.
